Renewable energy for heating and cooling is increasing

Energy from heating and cooling represent 50% of the total gross final energy consumption. Moreover, the gross final consumption of renewable energy for heating and cooling has increased in the last year thanks to biomass and heat pumps.

 

In particular, among Member States, Sweden has reached 68%, more than two thirds, of the energy used for heating and cooling in 2021. Estonia, Latvia and Finland are directly following the trend.
