"An Icelandic engineering company in collaboration with European universities, research institutes, and companies is developing an innovative method of home heating where aluminum is the energy source. The Icelandic engineering company Arctus aluminum and Täknissetur (formerly the Íslands Innovation Center) are now participating in an extensive European research project based on the sustainable use of aluminum as an energy source for domestic heating.
The project recently received a significant financial grant from the European Union Research Fund and the Swiss Technological Development Fund, amounting to half a billion ISK, but in addition to Iceland, institutions, and companies from the Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Germany are involved in the project".
