A selection of top facades in 2022
The Architects Newspaper has selected innovative and successful facades of buildings that have been presented during 2022. The facades are made of different materials, such as terra-cotta, rammed earth and mass timber which offer different building envelope solutions based on the climate zones in which they are based. The innovative facades showcased are part of residential buildings, offices, a nursing home, and a greenhouse.
For example, the renovation of Sara Weill-Raynal Nursing Home by Avenier Cornejo architectes in Paris has been made by using the Kolumba brick which is durable and is adaptable under varying climatic conditions.
Another example is Agrotopia by META architectuurbureau and van Bergen Kolpa Architecten Roeselare (Belgium) whose facade material is made of diffuse glass with a particularly high haze factor.
