The German solar market has experienced a 11% growth in 2022 and collectors sales also increased. Industry associations account that around 91,000 solar systems have been installed and among them the majority are small rooftop systems installed by owners of private houses. In particular, more than half of new installations refers to hot-water solar systems.

Looking at 2023, the industry associations still expect a positive market development. This is supported also by a survey in which 11% of homeowners stated that they intend to invest in solar heating this year. However, there are still some issues which could slow down and decrease the expectations, such as supply bottlenecks.
