A research study by Illinois Institute of Technology has found that automated insulating window shades have a great potential for energy savings. In fact, they could cut the energy usage by 25% and offer a return on investment within 3 or 5 years.

The results highlight the impact of insulating window shades when integrated with an automated control system. This leads to energy reduction both during cooling and heating seasons.

Researchers also underscore that addressing energy waste is easier and more flexible in new construction, but it is still challenging in existing buildings.
