The European Commission noted in 2022 a high risk of poverty or social exclusion for over 95 million EU citizens, with a notable increase in those unable to adequately heat their homes.
The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) aims to address these issues by promoting energy-efficient renovations, reducing CO2 emissions, and improving indoor comfort, which could lead to significant health and economic benefits for Europeans while advancing climate goals.
