Zagreb, Ljubljana, and Helsinki stand out for their extensive urban greenery and green building practices, making them some of Europe’s greenest cities. The New European Bauhaus initiative is transforming urban environments with a focus on sustainable building practices.

For example, the BIG4LIFE project integrates greenery into buildings through green walls, roofs, and facades, promoting cooling, air purification, and water conservation in LLeida, Barcelona, Patras and Genoa.

LIFE Be-WoodEN advocates for using wood in construction to cut carbon emissions and enhance sustainability, focusing on social housing in Italy.

LIFE Panelka 2.0 renovates inefficient buildings in Ukraine with bio-based materials, while LIFE SeedNEB fosters green building and community involvement in Spain, Italy, and Hungary.

These projects align with EU environmental directives and the 2024 LIFE Call for Proposals, which offers €8 million for new Bauhaus-related projects

The call is open until 19 September 2024.
