UK houses are not on track to meet energy efficiency goals
The UK government is lagging behind the energy renovation projects for households. There are still 6 million homes to be thermally insulated and further 1.5 million need to be fitted with heat pumps. The target of reducing energy demand by 15% for households by 2030 looks still far away as millions of households still need to be renovated. On top of that, researchers has found that the UK government should also increase the rate to 20% by the end of the decade.
The research has also found that homes fitted with low-carbon solutions, such as solar panels and energy-saving technologies, could save up to £2,300 on households´ energy bills annually. Hence, renovation and energy interventions should speed up quickly.
