Visit of an eco-district in Japan for the "EcoQuartier" label certification

As part of the EcoQuartier label, Cerema traveled to Japan to validate the final stage of labeling an eco-district on the outskirts of Tokyo. A visit and exchanges that showed the importance given to collective life.

Anne Vial, director of the Sustainable neighbourhoods and Heart of the city project at Cerema, carried out a mission to Japan from October 12 to 14, 2022 to validate the last stage of labelling the EcoQuartier Morino City in Funabashi. This mission was carried out as part of Cerema's collaboration with the Ministry of Ecological Transition on EcoDistricts and Sustainable Cities.

 

A neighbourhood designed to promote community life

Cerema met with Japanese experts from the University of Tokyo to discuss the project and their approach to urban development, as well as the municipal team and technicians from the city of Funabashi, and neighbourhood stakeholders: association inhabitants, co-ownership trustee, promoters... For this labelling, Cerema checked that the EcoQuartier met the objectives set, whether the inhabitants had appropriated the district, how the management operates, what is the influence, the impact of the district in its environment, in the ways of working...
