Webinar - New Bauhaus Stories: Research & Education

Editorial Team

On Wednesday, October 23, BUILD UP hosted a webinar organised with the NEBULA project on ‘New Bauhaus Stories – New European Bauhaus and Research & Education’. During the event, four NEB education and research projects (BAUHAUS4EU, NEBINARs, UREHERIT and Cultuur&Campus Putselaan) shared their stories, focusing on how they have incorporated the NEB values and working principles into their activities, as well as the challenges and opportunities in research and education for the coming future.

After a brief introduction on the NEBULA project and main activities provided by Karine Laffont-Eloire, Senior Consultant at Dowel Innovation, the webinar moved to an introduction on the first project, BAUHAUS4EU, given by Tonia Schmitz, Sustainability Lead at Bauhaus Weimar University. ‘The core topic of the project is how to make our future more sustainable and beautiful, following the New European Bauhaus core, as well as to tackle rural disparities in different European regions’, said Schmitz.

During the second session, Borys Czarakcziew, President of the Management Board at GPP Grupa, provided insights about NEBINARs. ‘NEBINAR consists of a series of online lectures and workshops focused on developing a better understanding on the formation, qualification and practice of architecture and related fields in the built environment faced with the challenges of the European Green transformation’, he explained.

Ruta Leitanaite, Coordinator at the Architects Association of Lithuania, presented the UREHERIT. ‘The objective is to contribute to the recovery of the Ukrainian architectural sector, by inviting Ukrainian architects to collaborate with their European counterparts to share knowledge and experience. This will support in developing a methodology to preserve and recover the Ukrainian urban and architectural heritage in a sustainable and inclusive manner’, commented Leitanaite.

Finally, Amanda Brandellero, Associate Professor at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, introduced the fourth and final project: Cultuur&Campus Putselaan. ‘Cultuur&Campus is a collaborative effort involving a unique combination of partners with initiatives in culture, ecology, society and entrepreneurship, creating a space that fosters collaboration and innovation’, she concluded.
