Webinar - Renovating History: How to bring historic buildings into the 21st century
The need to urgently reduce the EU’s dependency on Russian fossil fuels and at the same time to transform our buildings to be highly energy efficient and decarbonised by 2050 requires us to take into account the entire building stock.
A sizable proportion of the existing building stock in the EU can fall into the category of historic, heritage and other protected buildings, many of which are amongst the worst-performing buildings in terms of energy consumption.
It is therefore imperative that they must be taken into account in the design of future national buildings renovation plans and policy measures to meet the EU’s climate objectives by improving their energy performance and reducing CO2 emissions while also improving living conditions.
This webinar demonstrates opportunities for energy renovation of historic buildings. The speakers present practical solutions, such as the HiBERatlas project and the Italian Green Building Council’s certification scheme, and will discuss possible approaches to tackle this topic at EU and local level with the contribution of the Secretary General Adrian Joyce, who will bring to the table the EU legislative scope to the topic.
