The Energy Agency of Plovdiv has been advocating for greener and more sustainable heating coming from homes, for example, through the use of local bio-mass and increasing the energy efficiency of heating devices. Bulgaria indeed needs to solve the problem of energy poverty, meaning that low-income households can only affoard bad quality wood or coal which is burnt in inefficient stoves.

 

The Energy Agency of Plovdiv is thus supporting the Municipality to implement a heating replacement programme, providing a 100% state grant for 3,500 households to replace their old heating stoves with environmentally-friendly alternatives.
