LIFE Zero Energy Mod project
LIFE Zero Energy Mod project
The Zero Energy Habitable Mobile Modules (ZEM) project aims at building a module based on 20" containers that is easy to install and transport, and is constructed according to the PASSIVHAUS standard. Moreover, energy is produced locally with renewable energy sources (photvoltaic panels and wind turbine), and surplus energy is stored via lithium batteries, for short term storage, and H2 production, for seasonal storage.
The module has been designed and built, and it is currenlty under demostration in the Aragon Brigade in Zaragoza, Spain. In the near future, it will be dismantled and relocated in the Gabriel de Castilla research station, on the Antarctic continent.
The project has received funding by LIFE program of the European Union.
