RESHeat project
RESHeat project
More than half of a household’s annual energy consumption is for space heating and air conditioning.
In EU households, heating and hot water alone account for 79 % of total final energy use. What is more, three quarters of heating and cooling is still generated from fossil fuels. Switching to renewable heating and cooling technologies (biomass boilers and solar heating systems) can help reduce the use of fossil fuels.
The EU-funded RESHeat project will develop a system for the use of solar energy as the primary renewable energy source. Novelties of the system include integrated sun-tracked and cooled PV panels and solar collectors as well as advanced underground energy storage units.
