The report 'Multiple Benefits of Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods and Their Potential Impact on Policy and Investment Decisions' from syn.ikia, an EU-funded project under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, has been recently published.

It examines Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods (SPENs), emphasising their multifaceted benefits across social, economic, and environmental dimensions. These include cost efficiencies, social cohesion, public health improvements, and inclusive community spaces. SPENs promote community engagement, shared resources, and co-designed environments essential for inclusive societal transformation.

Quantifying and monetising these benefits are crucial for policy innovation, fostering sustainable urban development and attracting investments like ESG finance and EU taxonomy.

This approach supports informed stakeholder decisions and advances comprehensive sustainability strategies at the neighbourhood level, as outlined in the report.
