Reducing energy demand and decarbonising the energy supply are key to achieving net zero by 2050, with energy efficiency in housing being crucial.

This review, titled 'The price premium of residential energy performance certificates: A scoping review of the European literature', summarises European research on the price premium of residential Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). It highlights the scope, methods, and limitations of 68 studies and 111 models up to May 2024.

Findings show a positive price premium for energy-efficient homes, though challenges like data availability and omitted variable bias complicate results.

Future research should address these issues, and policymakers should enhance data infrastructure, EPC system harmonisation, and tailor energy retrofit policies for different submarkets.
