CORDIS Results Pack on deep renovation: accelerating building renovations for EU's Green Deal goals

Buildings must be renovated at a faster rate using cost-effective methods showcased by Horizon programme projects to meet the European Green Deal’s emission reduction goals.

Luca Papapietro

Buildings consume 40% of the EU’s energy, offering substantial energy-saving potential. They are key to achieving the European Green Deal's goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030. The current renovation rate of 1.2% annually must rise to 2-3% to meet this goal. Lowering renovation costs and reducing on-site time are crucial to increasing this rate.

Projects funded by the Horizon programme aim to showcase efficient, consumer-friendly renovation technologies and methods, some of which are included in the CORDIS Results Pack on deep renovation

These projects highlight both technological and financial solutions, addressing market barriers to achieve faster, cost-effective, high-quality renovations. This will lead to more energy-efficient, affordable, and comfortable homes.
