Electrification of energy systems leads towards carbon-neutrality

The extensive electrification of energy systems will lead to carbon-neutral energy systems by 2050. This relies on:
- broad use of renewables for electricity, transport, heating & cooling generation
- smart grids technologies
- energy storage and conversation technologies
- circular approach applied to energy systems
The ETIP SNET R&I Roadmap 2022-2031 outlines the framework in which European energy systems should be developed to reach full decarbonisation by 2050. The roadmap should also support the European Commission and national authorities in the process of building national and regional R&I Roadmaps aligned with the EU priorities.
