Energy services to tackle energy poverty in 5 pilot areas
Energy services are important to tackle energy poverty, however they need to be well defined and economically viable. PowerUP project has developed different innovative business models in 5 pilot areas to generate energy efficiency and renewable energy while also tackling energy poverty.
The PowerUP project aims at promoting the emergence of of local energy market players with socio-ecological agenda. Energy services provided at the local level can address energy poverty. The project has developed five business models in each of the 5 pilot areas: Eeklo, Valencia, Heerlen, UCSA (including 4 municipalities in South of Italy), and Roznov.
The following business models have been identified:
- energy cooperatives
- energy communities
- one-stop-shops
- ESCo model (for energy renovation of buildings)
- technology leasing
