This paper, titled 'Energy Consumption Trends and Determinants in Polish Hospitals: Implications for Energy Efficiency Strategies', examines energy consumption trends in Polish hospitals from 2010 to 2019, emphasising the significance of energy efficiency due to high energy demands.

Analysing data from 3,061 hospital reports, the research developed eight efficiency indexes based on hospital size (number of beds, operating rooms, medical staff, and asset value) and activity (person-days, patients, operations).

Results indicate that larger hospitals exhibit greater energy efficiency than smaller ones, highlighting key relationships between energy use and hospital size and activity. The findings aim to inform policymakers and hospital administrators on enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability in healthcare facilities.
