A paper in the journal 'Smart Cities' delves into the integration of Urban Green Spaces (UGS) with digital tools to address climate adaptation and mitigation across European cities. 

As part of the Horizon 2020 project VARCITIES, the study examines the social impact of combining Nature Based Solutions (NBSs) and Digital Solutions (DSs) within UGSs, using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology. 

Focused on Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, it aims to establish transformative pathways through the Theory of Change (ToC), quantify expected changes monetarily, and compare outcomes. 

Findings reveal a two-fold social return on investment, underscoring the project's economic and social benefits and inspiring similar SROI adoption in other pilot cities for future urban planning decisions.
