IRENA´s report highlights the previous and ongoing work to support countries in implementing energy transition measures and reach the climate commitments. The Agency is directly involved in supporting 83 countries, that are Parties to the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to effectively implement national policies and plans to become more sustainable.
In the report IRENA urges the world to accelerate the global energy transition by:
scaling-up renewables
substantial improvements in energy efficiency
end-use electrification
green hydrogen
bioenergy together with carbon capture and storage
