MeetMED Project: Cooling challenges in Mediterranean cities

The meetMED project (Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean region) is an EU-funded initiative aimed at bolstering energy security across countries like Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia.

The primary focus of the project is promoting energy efficiency measures and enhancing the energy mix, particularly in the building and appliances sectors. By adopting a multiscale, multi-partner, and inclusive approach, meetMED seeks to foster regional cooperation and facilitate the widespread adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices.

In its second phase, meetMED has launched several key initiatives, including the meetMED Finance Navigator—a web-based tool designed to assist project developers and owners in identifying suitable financing options for energy efficiency investments. Additionally, the project has organised events like the meetMED Week, which serves as a platform for policymakers and stakeholders to exchange experiences and discuss strategies for decarbonising the region.
