New Global Policy Principles to boost sustainability in the built environment
The World Green Building Council has published a set of principles aiming to guide national governments to develop effective building policies and initiative to decarbonise the built environment. These actions would be needed to achieve energy security, net zero buildings and circular economy principles as set in the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals.
The principles are structured in the report based on 7 key focus areas: carbon, resilience, circularity, water, biodiversity, health, equity and access. Governments should embrace an holistic approach, utilising public fundings and influencing financial investment decisions towards carbon mitigation, resilience and green buildings.
