Progress of regulations and initiatives for the decarbonisation of the built environment
The Living Future Europe Technical Group has published a report about the progress of decarbonisation initiatives in Europe and UK in the built environment. The document breaks down the certification requirements of the International Living Future Institute´s (ILFI) Zero Carbon (ZC) and Zero Energy (ZE) building certification programmes and assess how they align with the EU perspective of decarbonisation.
The built environment represents a problem in terms of carbon emissions which is worsened by the current growth pace of the global built environment. Zero Carbon and Zero Energy certifications are addressing these issues and can help towards a more sustainable built environment. What makes these certifications important and reliable is that they are based on real rather than modelled performance.
