The status of global energy investments

This 2023 report of energy investment examines how investors are assessing risks and opportunities in different areas, such as fuel and electricity supply, energy efficiency, and energy finance.
Giulia Leghissa

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a report about energy investments in 2022 and beginning of 2023. The report focuses on important aspects of the new investment landscape, including policies for clean energy spending, energy security, etc.

In general, energy efficiency investment in the global building sector increased by around 14% compared to 2021. However, the current economic crisis might decrease the investments in 2023. This increased investments was a result of sustained spending in major market, such as US, Germany and Italy.

Moreover, heat pumps sales have experienced a double-digit growth for the second year in a row, as the technology is replacing old fossil-fuel heating systems.
