The NEB Compass

The New European Bauhaus Compass guides projects with NEB principles of beauty, sustainability, and collaboration, emphasising innovation, adaptability, and community-driven learning.
Luca Papapietro

The New European Bauhaus (NEB) Compass serves as a framework to guide decision-makers in applying NEB principles to projects. It highlights the initiative's three core values—beautiful, sustainable, and together—across varying levels of ambition.

The Compass outlines three principles for a NEB approach: participatory processes, multi-level engagement, and transdisciplinary collaboration. It emphasises fostering innovative visions and processes with a long-term perspective, balancing theoretical foundations with adaptability to experimentation

Tested with the NEB community, it supports iterative learning and improvement. Importantly, the Compass complements but does not replace criteria for funding calls, laying groundwork for detailed assessment tools.
