Matchmaking Tool: Driving local renewable energy projects

The Matchmaking Tool facilitates connections between energy communities and owners of public or private assets, fostering collaborations for local renewable energy initiatives. It forms part of the European LIFE LOOP municipal accreditation scheme.

Editorial Team

Developed under the European LIFE LOOP project, the Matchmaking Tool is a digital platform designed to support the creation of clean energy projects by linking asset owners—such as those with rooftops, land, or buildings suitable for energy installations—with local energy communities eager to develop them.

With a focus on collaboration and civic engagement, the tool enables public entities, businesses, and individuals to register available assets, while community groups can explore these opportunities to launch collective renewable initiatives. This interaction encourages the efficient use of existing infrastructure and accelerates the local energy transition.

The tool is integrated into the LIFE LOOP accreditation scheme, which recognises municipalities committed to fostering energy communities. The scheme includes a self-assessment test and a training course for public officials, thereby enhancing institutional capacity to lead a fair, inclusive, and decentralised energy transition.
