Anna Moreno

Biography
Anna Moreno graduated in Chemical Engineering from Federico II University in Naples in 1979 with top honors. In 1981, she earned a Master’s degree in Macromolecular Sciences from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Her diverse and interdisciplinary American experience fueled her passion for acquiring and sharing knowledge across various fields.
From 1983 to 2020, she worked at ENEA, where she evolved through different roles, starting from nuclear waste treatment plant design to the characterization of advanced ceramic materials and then focusing on technology transfer to SMEs. Since 1999, she has been involved in training and knowledge dissemination, while continuing her work in advanced materials. For nearly 20 years, she served as the national representative at VAMAS (Versailles Advanced Materials and Standards) and for over 25 years followed the work of ISO TC 184 – SC4 on industrial automation, particularly in material information traceability.
Moreno has received numerous awards, including:
Festambiente Award (August 2014) by Legambiente for the ELIH-Med project on energy efficiency in low-income housing in the Mediterranean.
Gold Winner in Education (November 2013) at the EUWIIN event in Stockholm.
Completed the Deloitte "Board Academy" course, organized by the Marisa Bellisario Foundation, to prepare women for roles in Boards of Directors.
High Education Award (November 2012) from ITWIIN.
Finalist for the DEPUIS project in the European competition for the "Best Innovation Tool" for a multimedia handbook (2008).
Award for Best International Cooperation Project (January 2008) for sustainable energy promotion in Brussels.
Recognition Plaque (February 2008) from the Tuscany Renewable Energy District for a Campaign for Sustainable Energy.
Recognition of e-learning activities (November 2007) for the http://odl.casaccia.enea.it portal, named among the top 10 international practices by the European Standardization Committee CEN.
At ENEA, she coordinated various projects, including:
ELIH-Med focused on energy efficiency in low-income housing across the Mediterranean region.
BRICKS, which built a large network of national and European partners, involving public administrations and promoting new professional profiles in building energy efficiency.
net-UBIEP, which developed professional profiles combining Building Information Modeling (BIM) and energy efficiency.
In her final years at ENEA, she also served on the ENEA Scientific Technical Committee. In 2015, she founded the Institute for BIM Italy (IBIMI), recognized by MISE under Law 4 of 2013, and in 2019, IBIMI became the Italian chapter of buildingSMART International. After two terms as IBIMI president, she now serves as an advisor responsible for international affairs and sustainability. She is also president of the Forum of European Chapters within buildingSMART International, promoting open standards for construction digitalization.
Moreno is a partner in the ARISE project, which develops a platform for recognizing skills in energy efficiency and digitalization, and coordinator of the RES2 project, aimed at creating a roadmap for upskilling the construction supply chain
