Sustainable construction is about optimising natural resources and construction systems that minimise the environmental impact of buildings on the environment and their inhabitants and improve their energy efficiency.

The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester will organise the dialogue "Energy efficiency, urban architecture and retrofitting: a global matter" with the participation of the researcher Dr. Carmen Alonso Ruiz-Rivas (CSIC) and Tod Holden, Head of Energy Policy and Programme at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, moderated by Professor William Swan, Director of Energy House. A conversation that will examine the challenges presented by the construction of buildings to reduce the carbon footprint, achieve zero emissions or tackle energy saving in the 21st century.

The event is in collaboration with the Consulate General of Spain in Manchester, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the Spanish National Research Council, the University of Salford and the Energy House 2.0 project.

El programa «Arquitectura y construcción sostenible» del Instituto Cervantes reflexiona como la manera en que construcción sostenible ofrece una respuesta respetuosa con su entorno para la construcción de edificaciones, sin prescindir del interés arquitectónico y de prestaciones de confort y habilidad interior. Se trata, por tanto, de optimizar recursos naturales y sistemas de construcción que minimicen el impacto ambiental de los edificios sobre el medio ambiente y sus habitantes y mejorar su eficiencia energética.

El Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester organiza el diálogo «Eficiencia energética, arquitectura urbana y rehabilitación: Una cuestión global» con la participación de la investigadora Dr. Carmen Alonso Ruiz-Rivas (CSIC) y Tod Holden, responsable de política energética y programa del Greater Manchester Combined Authority, que está moderado por el catedrático William Swan, director de Energy House. Una conversación que hablará de los retos que presenta la construcción de edificios para reducir la huella de carbono, conseguir cero emisiones o afrontar el ahorro energético en el siglo XXI.

Evento en colaboración con el Consulado General de España en Mánchester, el Greater Manchester Combined Authority, el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, la Universidad de Salford y el proyecto Energy House 2.0.
