Social reskilling: measures to combat local energy poverty
Details of the conference
Participants of this session are invited to discuss policy measures for reskilling and upskilling the labour force to match the needs and timeframe of the energy transition as well as provide concrete inspirational examples from local actions that assist vulnerable consumers.
Representatives from cities, civil society organisations and EU institutions will discuss the necessary skills for vulnerable consumers to cope with their energy needs by presenting examples of local actions such as the German Stromspar-Check Aktiv where advisers consult low-income households on how to save energy and water through house visits. It will also discuss the need for upskilling and providing training opportunities for professional workers that need to acquire new socio-technical skills to become part of the just transition and contribute to energy poverty mitigation actions.
