Energy efficiency renovation for Serbia´s top hospital
The Ministry of Mining and Energy has signed a contract to start an energy renovation project of the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. The project will last 6 years and will cost EUR 200 million.
The energy rehabilitation of the hospital is key to improve energy efficiency in public buildings. The hospital is also quite energy consuming as it consumes as much electricity as a city with 20,000 inhabitants. The first phase of the project is expecting to reduce natural gas consumption by up to 30% and CO2 emissions are expected to be cut by 24,000 tons a year.
The German development bank KfW will provide a first EUR 50 million loan for the first phase of the project, whereas following funding will come from the European Union´s funds.
