Investing in the renovation of buildings to eradicate energy poverty

Editorial Team

Even before the energy crisis, around 50 million of EU people were living in energy poverty. Hence, renovate those highly inefficient buildings could help to tackle this issue and improve the lives of their occupants. In fact, people living in energy poverty are also suffering respiratory health conditions coming from the way they try to heat their homes (e.g. wood burning stove) and cold homes can also deteriorate the general health.

Around 75% per EU buildings are considered energy inefficient and 40% energy consumption are taken by homes, it seems clear that the renovation of existing buildings should be at the top priority of the EU leaders.
