The recast of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) has now been published on the EU Official Journal and will come into force in just 20 days. The EU Member States will have two years to transfer this directive into national laws. This publication closes the legislative process which started back in 2021 with the "FitFor55" package.

The new directive includes more principle to improve energy efficiency in buildings, such as the "energy efficiency first" principle. It also establishes the EU biding target to reduce EU´s final energy consumption by 11.7% by 2030, and also an average annual energy savings of 1.49% for the period 2024-2030.
