A new technology tapping renewable sources to cut energy bills

In Valladolid (Spain) a new technology is helping consumers to use renewable energy and it is transforming how they use energy at home.
Daniel Aragón

Consumers in Valladolid are changing the way they use energy at home thanks to a new technology which will reap the benefits of energy efficiency and lower heating bills. The EU-funded REDREAM project is seeking to stimulate the use of cheaper sources of renewable power.

The main project innovative idea is an "energy eco-system" that can reduce peaks in demand by spreading evenly energy use throughout the day. This system can also control devices remotely and takes advantage of the renewable systems when possible. Finally, an app interface helps consumers have clearer understanding of the energy usage.
