Supporting building renovation to avoid future energy crisis
Editorial Team
Adrian Joyce, Secretary Generak at EuroACE and Campaign Director at Renovate Europe, shares his view on how renovation of buildings should be supported and implemented to avoid future energy crisis. These measures are necessary to protect households and businesses from surging costs.
Under the Renovation Wave scheme, the EU has planned to double the rate of energy renovations and upgrade 35 million buildings by 2030. However, due to the pandemic and war in Ukraine, very little steps have been implemented towards the expected goal. The revised EPBD will support even further the renovation of buildings, giving it a strong push.
