Research from Foundation Home Loans in 2024 reveals that 67% of UK landlords own properties that don’t meet the government’s proposed EPC 'C' targets, which aim for all rented homes to achieve this rating by 2030.

While 92% of landlords are aware of these standards, only 67% fully understand them. In response, 42% of landlords plan to upgrade their properties, with most funding improvements through savings or rent increases.

The cost to meet EPC 'C' is estimated at £12,000 per property, with upgrades focusing on insulation, heating systems and PV panels. Green mortgages could help finance these changes.
