Moderated by Aranzazu Galán González, Senior Researcher at Université Libre de Bruxelles and BUILD UP Editorial Board Member, the webinar consisted of 3 presentations sections, including material and outcomes from the H2020 Plug-n-Harvest project which has recently ended (November 2022).
The expected outcome of this workshop was to share the project experience and outputs, and the session started with the speech of Iakovos Michailidis, (CERTH/ITI), Technical Manager of Plug-N-Harvest, who introduced the project goals, objectives and solutions. The main solution, as explained by Michailidis, is comprised of two main technological pillars:
- Adaptable Dynamic Building Envelope (ADBE).
- Digitalised Micro-Grid Energy Management System (EMS).
Toni Herena, from AIGUASOL, was the next one to take the floor to speak about the circular economy aspects of the design. Herena explained in depth the evaluation methodology and impact assessment of circular economy solutions.
After this, it was time to speak about pilot cases. Nil Juvanteny, from AHC, summed up the case of the Sant Quirze Residential Building, in Catalonia (Spain). Juvanteny explained the initial state of the building, the project solution and the conclusions about the work done, regarding the thermal bridges in the façade and windows, the reduction of the heating and cooling demand, the benefits of the circular economy and the level of user satisfaction, among other issues.
Then, Nikolaos Margaritis, from CERTH/CPERI, took the floor to unveil the case of RWM Grevena, in Greece. It included a description of the pilot building, the final technical specifications and an explanation of the monitoring phase in more depth.
Finally, it was the turn of the audience to speak and share their thoughts through a Q&A session moderated by Zuzana Prochazkova, from PiAg.
