The EPBD Recast focuses on enhancing building renovation rates, prioritising the improvement of poorly performing buildings and emphasising Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) and Digitalisation. 

It allows flexibility for national adaptation, enabling governments to tailor strategies to their specific needs. Targeted financing initiatives aim to stimulate investment, alleviate energy poverty, and support vulnerable consumers. 

Tenant protections include rent assistance and limits on rent escalation. Aligned with the European Green Deal, the EPBD aims to reduce building sector emissions by at least 60% by 2030, aiming for climate neutrality by 2050.
