Hong Kong is cementing its status as a global leader in green building, as revealed in the latest 'Green Building in Action 2024' report. With over 4,497 buildings certified under the BEAM Plus scheme, the city is making significant progress towards carbon neutrality. The total estimated carbon emissions saved annually by these projects has reached 1.45 million tons, equivalent to planting 63 million trees or eliminating the emissions of 11,170 diesel buses.
The report also highlights the expansion of the green product market, with over 1,167 certified eco-friendly products now available. Additionally, Hong Kong’s green building professionals continue to grow in numbers, ensuring that sustainability remains at the forefront of urban development.
With a roadmap focused on reducing environmental impact and fostering innovation, Hong Kong’s green building movement is setting a precedent for cities worldwide.
