The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and Arup have published a new report, titled "Net-zero Operational Carbon Buildings - State of the Art", examining the current global approach to achieving net-zero emissions in building operations.

There is a growing demand for net-zero emission buildings, fuelled by a collective urgency from building owners, tenants, and investors aligning with corporate sustainability commitments. However the report identifies significant challenges, such as lack of global consistency, policy gaps, standards variation. The report stresses the necessity for a single robust certifiable definition to differentiate net-zero buildings and drive market acceleration.
