This paper, titled: 'Recycling Bitumen for Composite Material Production: Potential Applications in the Construction Sector', discusses a new recycling process for waste BBRM (bitumen-based roofing materials) generated during roof renovations

Unlike traditional methods, which either mix BBRM with asphalt for road paving or burn it for energy, this process results in a material with superior durability, weather resistance, and mechanical strength. The material is flexible, has enhanced tensile strength, and offers better UV and environmental degradation resistance. It can replace degradable wooden components in construction

The process is simple, portable, and can be executed directly on-site during renovations, providing a sustainable alternative to current recycling techniques.
