What is the future of heat pumps? IEA share their perspective
The International Energy Agency (IEA) share their perspective and suggestions on how to accelerate and support the deployment of heat pumps, powered by low-emissions electricity, in the future. They estimate that heat pumps globally have the potential to reduce global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by at least 500 million tonnes in 2030.
They also highlight the key challenges and policy solutions, also considering the consequences of an accelerated uptake of heat pumps for energy security, energy bills and employment. The report stresses in particular the need to establish policies which can support the consumers of heat pumps in the initial high costs.
