Energy communities, led by citizens, promote peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading, enabling direct electricity purchases between neighbours and reducing reliance on traditional suppliers. 

The EU-funded NRG2PEERS project developed a web platform to facilitate P2P community adoption, offering tools like the Readiness Level Indicator and Advisory App. 

Through behavioural changes and operational optimisations, the project aims to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability, as demonstrated in pilot studies involving 356 households.

Results indicate potential savings in energy and CO2 emissions. The project highlights the significance of community-driven approaches in achieving Europe's climate goals and advancing sustainable energy practices globally.
