ARISE
Inspiring demand for sustainable energy skills, by providing clear learning interactions, transparency of upskilling transactions and recognition of qualifications achieved
ARISE revolutionized the recognition of sustainable energy and BIM skills in the construction sector by developing an innovative, blockchain-based digital platform. The project successfully incentivized professionals to upskill through engaging micro-learning modules and a unique skills-currency reward system known as CERTcoin. As a dynamic resource for workers looking to reskill today, the project provides ongoing access to its on-demand digital learning portal and transparent skills registry, allowing experts to easily acquire, record, and showcase their qualifications to future employers.
New Skills for Nearly Zero Energy Buildings
NS4NZEB focuses on boosting the number of qualified building professionals capable of delivering nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEB) through specialized training methods. The project is developing and piloting new tailored courses, bridging the gap between theoretical NZEB concepts and practical on-site application. The initiative offers open-access training materials and methodological guidelines specifically designed for integrating NZEB standards into everyday construction practices.
Enhancing Market Readiness for nZEB Implementation
nZEB Ready aimed to drive the implementation of nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEB) by directly addressing the market's need for highly qualified professionals and reliable technology solutions. The initiative successfully trained a critical mass of workers, spanning from specialized designers and engineers to on-site installers, while actively engaging public authorities to recognize and demand these advanced energy skills in their projects. As a practical resource for experts seeking to upskill today, the project provides a comprehensive set of ready-to-use training modules and technical guidelines specifically tailored for the design, construction, and certification of high-performance nZEBs.
SEETheSkills empowered construction professionals to effectively tackle the energy renovation of the existing building stock by elevating the visibility and value of specialized energy skills. Through a targeted approach, the initiative actively promoted tailored upskilling and reskilling opportunities while demonstrating the tangible benefits of a trained workforce to the broader industry. As a result, the project successfully validated and integrated these new competencies into the labor market, ensuring that skilled experts are recognized and matched with the growing demand for sustainable construction.
Dedicated to stimulate demand for sustainable energy skills in the construction sector
BUSLeague project tackled the demand for an energy-skilled workforce by developing a publicly available cross-craft qualification framework (comprising 98 tasks and 92 learning outcomes), that remains accessible today for shaping new training programs. During its execution, the project successfully upskilled over 5,600 individuals, including retail staff and installers, while securing concrete commitments to integrate energy skills into public procurement. The project provides open access to a vast compilation of tailored curricula, e-tools, and handbooks, which continue to be utilized by partnered training centers across Europe.
INSTRUCT focused on demonstrating the direct link between highly skilled construction workers and the actual energy performance of buildings to boost market demand for qualified professionals. The project developed specialized training programs, established mutual recognition frameworks for energy skills, and promoted the use of digital worker skills passports. As a result, the project successfully upskilled personnel across the entire construction supply chain while providing concrete evidence to stakeholders that investing in trained workers leads to higher quality, energy-efficient building renovations.

The project represented the first phase of the BUILD UP Skills initiative in Denmark. The first objective was to gather the key national stakeholders from the energy, education & training and building sectors. Together they formed a National Qualification Platform. The platform mapped the existing workforce and qualification programs, identified future skills needs and analysed which gaps and barriers must be overcome in order to train the workforce and reach the 2020 EU energy targets. Results were bundled in a National Status Quo report. The platform then formulated a National Roadmap of measures to overcome skills gaps and barriers, which was endorsed by key stakeholders.
