The European Horizon2020 project W.E.District aims to integrate multiple sources of renewable energy and excess heat at three demonstration sites in Rumania, Sweden and Spain under different climatic conditions across Europe to showcase solutions for 100% fossil-free district heating and cooling systems.

This project assesses the extent to which a high proportion of heating and cooling reduces dependence on industrial processes and thus the pollution associated with them. It will bring together research centres, suppliers and technologies to join forces and calculate the economic gains from the use of solar energy.
