On the 28th and 29th of October, the international hybrid conference 'Heritage Homes in Green Transition' will take place in Tallinn. The focus will be on European and Estonian historic buildings in the context of the green transition, as well as improving the energy efficiency of protected residential buildings.
Aims of the conference are to highlight current trends and strategies for cultural heritage in green transition in Europe and Estonia; to exchange experiences from ongoing research and development programs on energy renovation and heritage; to share challenges and success stories of improving energy efficiency via concrete examples of historic homes.
At the conference, experiences from across Europe will be shared. Among the speakers are Johanna Leissner and Philip Hesse from Germany, Anne Grady from Ireland, Robyn Pender from the United Kingdom, Ulrika Mebus, Tina Wik, and Petra Eriksson from Sweden, Arnstein Brekke from Norway, Marko Huttunen and Juulia Mikkola from Finland, Arturs Lapins from Latvia, and Andro Mänd, Alois Andreas Põdra, Üllar Alev, Kadri Kallast, Riin Alatalu, and Ave Paulus from Estonia.
The conference can be attended in person (limited spots available), or via Zoom or Facebook live stream. The working language of the conference is English, with simultaneous interpretation into Estonian available on the first day.
The conference is organized by ICOMOS Estonia in collaboration with ICOMOS working groups, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Climate, the National Heritage Board, Taltech, the Estonian Academy of Arts, the Estonian Museum of Architecture, and the Estonian Open Air Museum. The event takes place within the framework of the research and development programs LIFE heritageHOME and BuildEST, co-funded by the European Union.
