Editorial Team

Since buildings account for 40% of the world´s greenhouse gas emissions, it is key to decarbonise them as we also have the technology available.

Currently, to align existing buildings to the net-zero target, around 3-3.5% of buildings in mature cities need to be retrofitted every year. This is more than three times the current rate.

However, despite the obvious benefits, such as cutting carbon emissions and reducing costs, energy efficiency has always been a "blind spot" for governements and regulators, investors, and building users. However, due to the latest climatic and geopolitical events, there is a growing recognition to urgently renovate the built environment.
