On Tuesday, October 15, BUILD UP hosted the fifth webinar, part of a series of six webinars, organised with the COST Action project Circular B on 'Stakeholder Webinar Series: Contractors, Builders, and Manufacturers of Construction Products.'

The webinar started with Rita Moura, Director of Innovation at Teixeira Duarte - Engenharia e Construções, who provided insights into sustainability, circularity, and innovation within the construction sector. ‘Buildings are usually composed of 80% of similar elements: by standardising construction components we can increase quality and reduce costs’, stated Moura.

During the second session, Maria João Martins, Corporate Sustainability Manager of ACA Group, gave an overview of the key sustainability initiatives implemented at ACA Group. Among the others, Martins highlighted the successful implementation of the eCircular certification, which evaluates the company’s circularity level.

In the final panel, Christophe Sykes, Director General of Construction Products Europe, delved into the essential changes introduced by the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) among whom the introduction of a Digital Product Passport (DPP) and the inclusion of sustainability indicators in the Declaration of Performance and Conformity (DoPC). ‘The construction industry is one of the most efficient levers to decarbonise our society: one of the crucial steps is the deep energy restructuring of residential and non-residential segments’, concluded Sykes.
