RECONMATIC Clustering Event: Promoting Circularity in Construction
On Wednesday, February 28, BUILD UP hosted a webinar organised by the RECONMATIC project on circularity in construction. Titled ‘RECONMATIC Clustering Event: Promoting Circularity in Construction’, the event gathered several representatives from the RECONMATIC project, as well as from the EU projects Beeyonders, CircularB COST Action, Reincarnate, RoBétArmé, REDOL and VALREC, who shared an overview of the European priorities to reach an effective twin transition.
The webinar was structured into three sessions. The first session, ‘Twin Transition Projects: Synergies between participating projects’ delved into the similarities that bring together the projects. Anna Palaiologk from Future Needs explained that ‘the main goal of all the projects is linked to circularity aspects, among which is to reduce CO2 emissions, reduce waste and ensure better and more efficient use of construction-generated data’.
The second session, ‘Panel Discussion on similarities between participating projects’, moderated by Jan Valentin from the Czech Technical University, saw the representatives of the EU projects Beeyonders, CircularB COST Action, Reincarnate, RoBétArmé, REDOL and VALREC discussing how circularity in construction is specifically addressed in each project. As said by Adriana Salles from the CIRCULARB COST Action: ‘It is crucial to have a holistic approach that allows circularity to be fully addressed’. Moreover, Antonio Alonso Cepeda from BEEYONDERS highlighted that ‘the use of digitalisation, like AI or blockchain, aid to avoid delays and keep the process under control’.
Dissemination opportunities
The final session, ‘Future Research Dissemination and Conference Opportunities’ moderated by Georgia Nikolakopoulou from Future Needs, engaged the representatives of the above-mentioned projects on the activities to be developed by the projects in future events to enhance synergies and cooperation.
